The project

40 designers around the world, were asked to give their honest and personal answer to the following question: ‘If you could design an apple, what would you do?’

This is a research project about the natural, the artificial and the designed. The project encourage us to define our relationships with nature and design, while attempting to raise alternative ways of thinking and observing our life. The future is as confusing and mysterious as it has always been. However in my opinion, even though we cannot stop progress, and of-course, we can not stop nature – we could direct our lives to take other courses with more awareness and consciousness in mind.

The project is comprised out of three parts:

Pomme Research – impressions discoveries about the apple ‘factory’ (the tree) and the product (the apple). Part of that was a trip to Iwate prefecture – talking and meeting with farmers, workers and researchers.

Pomme Collection – 40 new apple designs created designers around the world by answering the question: ‘If you could design an apple, what would you do?’

Pomme Thoughts – 3D printed apples each representing a single thought about production and consumption scenarios.
